Perfect Picture

Perfect Picture
Words by Dottie Burman, Music by Robin Field

Why was I drawn to him in the first place?

The answer is clear and easy to find.

When I first looked at him,

I knew that the look of him

Fit the perfect picture I had painted in my mind.

Why was I drawn to him in the first place?

Well, he had the smile my portrait had shown.

His eyes held promises,

His lips spelled promises

That in my real life picture I would never be alone.

And he was taller and stronger

Than I could ever be.

And I thought at last I'd be someone

Because the perfect someone wanted me.

That's why was I drawn to him in the first place.

Would I do it again if I met him today?

If I knew what I know,

Would I still choose to stay?

The answer is yes, for I still find

That when I look at him,

I see that the look of him

Still fits the perfect picture

That I cannot seem to get out of my mind.
